The story….

“The babouche of Princess Zaynab Nefzaouia, become the first queen of Marrakech” ……..Nearly 1,000 years ago, the sultan of the Ourika valley sent the message to all the manufacturers of slippers in the region that he wanted to marry his daughter with Youssef Ibn Tachfin, the founder of the Almoravide dynasty. In the Medina of Marrakech, lived a small artisan who was manufacturer of slippers. Recognized for the quality of his work, he decided to take up the challenge of the Sultan. And after 3 days and 2 nights, he had before him a pair of slippers finished, shining with a thousand shards, and silky as a jewel. He immediately went to the Sultan to carry his work. But on the way he lost one of the slippers without even giving an account. Arriving in front of the sultan, the artisan offered his bag to the master of the place who found that there was only one satchel, which put him in a black anger, pretending that his daughter had her 2 Legs. The craftsman was dishonored, and once at home, he buried the slipper remaining in his garden in despair. It was during the foundations of the Riad that the babouche of the small craftsman was found. And in tribute to Princess Zaynab Nefzaouia, who became the first queen of Marrakech, Joel decided to call her Riad, Karmela Princess.
